The Truth About Colon Cleansing

They’re everywhere. And they’re often paired with thermogenic fat burners like Hydroxycut. And it’s been a huge new fad. But what you may not know is the chemical pathway in your body and how this can be hurting you.

I agree with the statement that cleansing the colon is crucial to weight loss. However, using cleansing products that contain the following, are harmful to you:

  • Enemas
  • Laxatives
  • Herbal Teas
  • Enzymes
  • Magnesium
  • Calcium Carbonate

Our colons contain bacteria that breakdown various toxins in our body. Colon cleansing advocates and product creators using the above ingredients allege that you are ridding your body of these toxins. But that’s only half true.

The problem is you’re eliminating the good bacteria, as well as the bad toxins.

Of course, sometimes doctors may suggest or require you to take some colon cleansing products for medical procedures like a colonscopy. However, doctors will NEVER prescribe a “detox” program.

Your body naturally rids toxins in your body and detoxification is a naturally occurring process.

If you find yourself using these products and feeling any of the following symptoms, you’ve used the product for too long or too much:

  • Cramping
  • Bloating
  • Nausea
  • Vomiting
  • Diarrhea

Additional strains that you maybe causing to your body include:

  • Possible bowel irregularity patterns
  • Possible bowel perforations
  • Dehydration
  • Electrolyte imbalance
  • Possible weaker immune system

Instead, look for better methods such as higher fiber intake. If anything, take some psyllium husk if you cannot meet your recommended fiber intake.
