The Difference Between Muscle and Fat

To lose one pound of fat, you’ll have to burn approximately 3,500 calories. In reality, it’s slightly lower than that, but for our sake, let’s assume it’s that value. But have you seen what the difference between fat and muscle looks like?

fat-v-muscleAs you can visually see, the amount of space that fat takes up is significantly more than that of muscle. Another thing you need to know is that muscle is more dense than fat. So this should clear up the question, “does muscle weigh more than fat?” The answer is 5 lbs of fat is equal to 5 lbs of muscle since they’re both 5 lbs. However, the amount of area that each takes up is very different.

There will a point in your body transformation where you will shed all your fat, then you will begin to gain weight. Your weight will increase, but as long as you’re sticking to the Saiyan plan, then you’ll be gaining lean muscle.

One additional factor to consider is that muscle will burn extra calories so you will be metabolizing more. It’s not too significant at first, but it adds up. Every 5 lbs of muscle will burn approximately 30 more calories per day. Imagine if you gained 5 lbs of pure lean muscle. That means every month you should theoretically be burning 900 more calories per month (which is not too significant); however, everything helps in your physical transformation.
